A sad but proud day for the Preston region. Tom's been my hero ever since I first saw him play in the late 1940s. I've a special memory of once watching him take a corner within touching distance of where I was standing. That was at Bloomfield Rd. Stan Matthews was playing (for Blackpool) too that day. But Tom was the highlight.
He's been a wonderful inspiration and example to us all.

I had the pleasure of meeting this gentleman at a charity event and his legend will live on forever. Now with his beloved wife.

Goodbye to a legend! I'll never see another as great as you unless my 3 year old fulfils his dream (he said hes going to be the greatest now your not here!) Fingers crossed.

You did a great job! Now rest in peace you deserve it.

It is a sad day for Preston today as we see one our most favorite sons laid to rest. You are and will always remain in the hearts of a town heartbroken that you are gone. Rest in peace Sir Tom, you are a modern day Legend and hero.

Sleep well Sir.

The word "legend" is so often misplaced in these modern times. However, Sir Tom, you certainly were.

Despite never having seen you play, the impact left on both the City & Football Club shine on.

Rest in Peace.

My father idolised Tom Finney and was always adamant that he was the greatest footballer of all time.
