Sir Tom Finney was an unassuming gentleman with a big heart. During the 80's and 90's he supported me and the work we did at Age Concern Preston & South Ribble with the older residents of Preston. He was also a very close friend and will be very sadly missed.

I remember the time I met Sir Tom, I asked for a picutre and autograph and of course he was such a gentlemen, happily agreed and had a brief conversation, he asked if I played football, I nodded and he asked where I played, I said on the wing, then he smiled and said if I will be better than him, of course I shook my head. That moment will forever be remembered. RIP Sir Tom

Sir Tom started his football career the year I was born. He and others of that period gave boys like me a person and a sport to respect and enjoy. How lucky we were to have great men like Sir Tom to emulate. A very sad day in this Yorkshire home today. Sir Tom "THANK YOU".
