You will always be remembered Sir Tom, I only wish I'd been around to see you play. As a North End supporter I was raised by tales of how you became Mr Preston and how you great your play was. Deepdale has suffered a great sadness with your passing but we know you're always looking down on us. RIP Sir Tom, the last of the true great footballers and one of very few great men.

An absolute legend. I'm proud to be a supporter of Preston North End, and a big part of that is because of you. Your memory will live on and generation after generation will talk about the great Tom Finney. Forever Preston North End. Goodnight and God bless Sir Tom.

I wasn't lucky enough to meet you in person, but just living in Preston feels like part of your family. That's the impact you had. I enjoy football and can appreciate your greatness on the field, but it is how you were as a gentleman and an inspiration to us all as how to be as a person !! Rest in Peace true legend xx

While I've only seeing the old footage Sir Tom was no doubt an outstandingly talented player, one of the true greats.

I have a photograph of myself and Sir Tom from 2001. It was a chance meeting - Sir Tom visiting Deepdale on a Friday afternoon and I just happened to be there. An occasion I'll never forget.

Apart from his sporting achievements, he was (and will remain) an outstanding role model. The word 'legend' is overused these days but not in Sir Tom's case. An inspiration.

I have lived in Norfolk all my adult life and have never been to Preston at all. However I feel a sense of loss with the passing of Tom Finney who was one of my boyhood idols when growing up he was truly one of the greats and a terrific servant of one club and country. I had the privelage of seeing him play in the flesh as it were only once. Thank you for your skill your dignity and humanity and rest in peace. My condolences and regards to all Preston supporters from a Norwich City supporter.
